BME
BME (Black and Minority Ethnic) is a catch-all for ethnic minority groups in the UK. The term includes “white” groups such as “Irish Traveller” (i.e. groups recorded under any of the "White" groups other than "White British").
With over 130 languages spoken in the city, Manchester is one of the most diverse places in the world. From the very start, our focus has been on providing services that meet the needs of BME community members in a way that has not been done in Manchester before. Some of our provision is totally unique in the city and perhaps even in the UK.
Current BME focussed projects:
Manchester Muslim Writers (MMW) - the majority of the members are of BME origin
Story School (story-telling in primary schools, including bilingual story-telling)
Past BME focussed projects:
Free English conversation classes (for BME communities)
Gameschool Homework Club (for BME children)
Painting 4 Peace (for BME youth)
Training in Recycling (for the BME community)
Regenesis Squared
